Despite the manual tagging and self-generated manual coding of the sari’s, there were instances where a high priced sari was sold for low price and vice-versa leading to accounting troubles, unfortunate financial conditions and unsatisfied customers.Although, the number of problems were small but the impact was vast on the owner.
He implemented a barcode based inventory system in his factory and showroom.
All the finished products were immediately barcoded after packing.
Barcodes were mapped with the product and price details. Barcoded sari’s were scanned at the time of shipping the material from factory to showroom. This confirmed not only the count of Sari’s but also the type of Sari’s.At the time of receiving, showroom’s staff scanned the barcode and a report was generated which can be tallied with the dispatch report of factory.
This sorted out the problem of mismatch from factory to showroom.
At the time of sale, all the invoices were generated only after scanning the barcode of the sold Sari. This confirmed the price of the Sari and finally, it resolved the problem of wrong pricing. Within the same solution, a system of stock audit was also incorporated.
